The Snug Piercing Process
The process of getting a snug piercing is very simple. A piercing practitioner will use antiseptic to clean the area of the ear which will be pierced. The client will normally sit in a reclines medical chair (like a dentist chair) for comfort as the piercing process can be quite dramatic. The practitioner will, having protective gloves on, grasp the interior, anti-helix portion of the ear and squeeze. Using a long piercing needle, he or she will insert the needle through one side of the anti-helix and through the other side. The needle will remain in the wound while the practitioner affixes to the needle the snug jewelry that will be used. The snug jewelry is then pulled through the hole (following the needle) and the end of the snug barbell or snug ring is attached to the ring.
Taking care of your Snug Piercing
Snug piercing is quite uncomfortable during the procedure, and is extremely painful for the first few days following the piercing. The injury can swell and the piercing will take approximately 6 months to heal. It is advised that you clean the wound with rubbing alcohol or other antiseptic daily to prevent any infection. Also, during the healing time, jewelry used during the snug piercing should not be removed. Following the period of healing, the ring can be removed and replaced with any other type of jewelry which is for a snug piercing.
